Moonshot

Moonshot

Shepard, a keen golfer, wanted to demonstrate the effects of the moon's gravity on a golf ball. He modified a Wilson 6-iron head and attached it to the handle of a lunar sample scoop, which he would use to collect rock and dust samples.

Shepard gained reluctant permission from mission control, promising to save the golfing for the end of the extravehicular activities (EVA) if time allowed. On the moon, Shepard used his makeshift club to hit two golf balls, famously stating that the second one went "miles and miles and miles".

Shepard's lunar golf demonstration captured the public's imagination and became a memorable symbol of the Apollo 14 mission. The incredible true story of the time an astronaut played golf.

Apollo 14 (January 31 - February 9, 1971) was the eighth crewed mission in the United States Apollo program, the third to land on the Moon, and the first to land in the lunar highlands. It was the last of the "H missions", landings at specific sites of scientific interest on the Moon for two-day stays with two lunar extravehicular activities (EVAs or moonwalks).

Fluorescence and phosphors create a glowing effect each time the UV-LED technology is activated.

Vaucanson timepieces have three distinctly different appearances; one in daylight, another under UV-LED illumination, and a third in the afterglow once the UV-LED deactivates.

The result of this collaboration is an innovative and patented illumination system which makes this timepiece a true fusion of technology and aesthetics. A perfect balance has been struck between advanced technologies and sophisticated, beautifully executed timepiece dials.

With the push of a button, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary timepiece, as the UV-LEDs activate, exciting the colorful fluorescents and phosphors that absorb the energy and release it as visible illumination, creating a truly soulful experience. With the touch of a button, you are not just lighting up your timepiece but your imagination and, quite possibly, inspiration.

Each timepiece comes with a 3D raised NASA worm logo. The strap has quick-release pins and a beautiful yellow gold tone tang buckle.

Eighteen layers of proprietary aerospace UV blocking technology

Yellow gold tone IP caseback with recessed cross-hatching and a raised astronaut.

Vaucanson timepieces are assembled in the United States of America.

Now you can wear an actual piece of the authentic silver that was aboard Apollo 14 on its journey to the moon.
